Are connected devices consuming electricity at home?
In the team of INVESTA - real estate agency Larissa, we make sure to listen to the needs of our clients and help them by proposing the best possible solutions for them. A common burning issue they are often faced with is of course high electricity prices.

The first thing everyone should check in their home is all the devices they have plugged in all the time. He will find that most of them are there completely pointlessly, like for example the mobile charger. The point is, however, to know which of them cause the greatest power consumption.

In a recent speech by a well-known energy inspector, the electrical and household appliances that consume the most electricity and at what cost per month were indicated. More specifically:
• Television: €2.5 / month
• Charger: €0.25/month
• Printer: €1.25 / month
• Computer: €2.5/month
• Air conditioner: 25€/month or 50€/month (depending on its size)
• Toaster: €0.02/month
• Kettle: for 10 minutes of use at €0.03/month
• Hairdryer: for 10 minutes of use at €0.03/month
• Oven: for 1 hour of use at €0.25/month

More generally, a basis must be given to the energy consumed. It is noticeable that there is a negligible amount of energy consumption from the use of chargers left in the socket and from devices that are permanently plugged in without being used, but that does not mean that it is not costly. This is a "phantom consumption" as it is called and it is proven by the small red light that is permanently lit on the transformers of the devices, which will have an increased temperature even if they are not in operation.
