6 decorating mistakes in a studio or studio apartment
At INVESTA Real Estate - Larissa real estate agency, we have studied the most frequent decoration mistakes in small apartments and present them below, to avoid them.

Mistake 1: You treat the room as a space that holds everything

Your primary concern in a studio apartment may be to treat it as a room in which you must place everything it can fit. Ideally, however, you should divide the space into smaller areas, such as creating zones for entertainment, sleeping and working from home, which will help you maximize the dimensions of your space visually. The use of dividers or carpets is helpful, to delimit the spaces and means that you will no longer have to see your bed as the main piece of furniture in the room. You can place some stools under a table or stand for extra guest seating. In general try to include furniture that can have more than one use, such as a desk that can be used as a dining table.

Mistake 2: Hanging the curtains too low

Properly placed curtains can transform a small room. Place the rods on the wall as high as possible, ideally as close to the ceiling as possible. This draws the eye upwards and gives the impression that the patio doors or windows are larger. The right length is curtains that reach the floor.

Mistake 3: Buying the wrong furniture

Using too small or too large furniture can cause chaos in such a small room, ultimately making it seem smaller than it actually is. Also, it would be good to avoid filling the space with a lot of unnecessary furniture. It makes it easier that there is now a wide variety of dual-purpose furniture, offering extra storage space or folding up to save space.

Mistake 4: Be afraid of using a pattern

Experimenting with different colors, textures and patterns can enhance the room, so we suggest you be bold! Choose to place some striking artwork in the space to add interest and depth to the space's decor. This will make your apartment look much bigger.

Mistake 5: Placing a bed forward

It is not a correct solution to put your bed directly in front of the entrance of the space. You can have an optical illusion by creating a bed corner with cabinets, wallpaper and a sconce to make it look like a room within another room. Another classic trick is to use a bookcase to separate your bed from the rest of the house.

Mistake 6: Placing too many decorative items

Too many decorative items, unfortunately, make your small apartment look cluttered. On the contrary, with very little and utilitarian it can look nice and tidy. Aim for decorations that will create the illusion of spaciousness, such as mirrors, large posters and artwork, which will elongate the walls and open up the room.
