During the winter with viruses circulating, it is especially important to make sure your home is safe.

With the following tips put together by the team of INVESTA Real Estate – real estate agency Larissa, not only will your home be cleaner, but it will also smell much nicer.

1. Sectional cleaning: Instead of trying to clean your entire house at once, clean it sectionally and regularly. Regular cleaning a little bit every day is the easiest way to keep your house clean. This will prevent germs from building up in the first place.

2. Use dehumidifiers: Areas with high humidity levels are often the ones that breed more germs, bacteria and mold. Using dehumidifiers can help prevent the build-up and spread of bacteria and mold by eliminating excess moisture. If you already have one, check the vents regularly to make sure they are working properly.

3. Wash your linens: Regularly wash all sheets, towels and other fabrics in hot water. Dust mites quickly accumulate on these frequently touched objects.

4. Clean your curtains and ceiling fans: Although many people neglect it, it is very important to clean and wash your curtains and dust your ceiling fans. Both of these areas can trap a lot of germs and dust that are not visible.

5. Close the toilet seat: Toilets are some of the most germ-infested places in our home. Clean the toilets at least once a week. Try to close the lid of her seat before you step on the toilet. This way you prevent bacteria and contaminated water from landing on other surfaces in your bathroom.

6. Shake your shower curtain: Shaking your shower curtain after your bath can reduce moisture build-up as excess water evaporates.

7. Separate cutting boards: Raw meats can contain dangerous bacteria such as salmonella. Although these bacteria are eliminated when the meat is cooked, they can survive on the cutting board. It is important to use a separate one for raw meats. Cutting boards should also be thoroughly cleaned after each use, as bacteria and germs can survive even in its small cracks. If yours has many deep cracks, consider getting a new one.

8. Store your toothbrush: Leaving your toothbrush in an open glass exposed on your bathroom counter can cause germ contamination. Toothbrushes should be kept in separate containers and in your cupboard.

9. Sanitize your sponge: Sponges are full of germs and bacteria, and a simple rinse won't completely eliminate them. Instead, microwave your sponge for 1-2 minutes or put it in the dishwasher. Also check your dishwasher regularly to make sure it's running at a high enough temperature to kill bacteria.

10. Change filters regularly: Change your vacuum cleaner, hood, and air conditioner filters often so you clean your carpets and air without adding more germs and dust.
